Recipe: Pumpkin Pie Recovery Smoothie

Forget about the pumpkin spice latte. Fuel your body for long adventures with this seasonally on-point recovery smoothie, compliments of snack aficionado Molly Quan.

With sweet potato as the main ingredient, this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie provides complex carbohydrates and is loaded with potassium and vitamin C to rebuild muscle tissue post-workout. Add this to your fall adventure routine, and your legs will thank you the next day.

 

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

 All ingredients are to taste. Start with: 

 

1 cup peeled and cooked sweet potato

1 banana

2 dates

splash of vanilla

big pinch of cinnamon

1 scoop protein powder

1 cup water and/or nut milk

 

Throw it in a blender. Blend well. Add more liquid if needed for your preferred consistency. Enjoy!

Pro Tip:  Keep cooked sweet potato and overripe bananas in the freezer. If your ingredients are warm or room temperature, add 1-2 ice cubes to the blender!
